About the Finger Lakes
At Skydive Seneca Lake, we pride ourselves on having the absolute best view of the Finger Lakes. This is because we are lucky enough to be located smack dab in the middle of all of them! There are eleven Finger Lakes in total, with Seneca and Cayuga being the two largest.
The Finger Lakes region in Upstate New York is a beautiful and historically significant area known for its stunning natural scenery and rich cultural heritage. The Finger Lakes themselves are a group of long, narrow lakes that were formed at the end of the last Ice Age by the melting of glaciers. As the glaciers melted, enormous holes were left in the earth. This formed our beautiful gorges, lakes and several local waterfalls.
According to Native American legend, the Finger Lakes were formed when the Creator reached down to bless the land, leaving behind the imprint of his hand. This mythological explanation adds a touch of mystique to the natural beauty of the region.
In addition to the breathtaking views of the lakes, the Finger Lakes region offers a wide range of activities for visitors to enjoy. Some popular things to do in the area include:
