Spring is starting to show up around the drop zone, and this month is all about getting ready for the season ahead. We’ve got Safety Day on the calendar, tandem opening day coming up fast, a spring promo for May jumps, a fun jumper shoutout, and a review that reminded us why people keep coming back.
April: Things to Come
Safety Day | April 25

As the season gets closer, we’re getting ready to head back to our favorite place—high above the Finger Lakes.
If you’re a solo skydiver or student, Safety Day is your chance to shake off the offseason and settle back in. Join us at 10am to get current, refresh your skills, and reconnect with the community before the first loads of the year start rolling.
Tandem Opening Day | May 1
Tandem skydiving is back at Skydive Seneca Lake on May 1, and if the weather cooperates, we may be getting started even sooner.
We’ve been waiting all winter to get back up there with you, and we’re excited to kick off another season of spring views over the Finger Lakes.
After a long winter, it’s finally time to get back outside and do something that puts some fresh air on your face.
Soar Into Spring 2026

If a spring jump has been on your mind, this is your chance to make it happen.
Fun Jumper of the Month: Chris Duroe
This one goes to Chris Duroe.
Chris has been part of the Ovid sky long before we got here, and in a way, he’s part of its history. Every now and then, we’ll have tandem students come back years later for round two, and somehow Chris is still in the picture. They’ll pull out their old footage… and there he is.
You’ll usually spot him by the bright gear in the sky or hear him on the ground with a joke that gets everyone laughing. He’s the kind of person who makes people feel welcome right away. Always willing to share advice, talk through a jump, or just hang out and talk about whatever adventure comes next.
Chris has done just about everything in the sport, from instructional ratings to exploring all the different ways to fly. But what really stands out is how he carries it. Quietly experienced, always approachable, and always showing newer jumpers what’s possible if they stick with it.
We’re lucky to have him here.

Featured Review
“Skydive of Seneca lake is the best!!! I accidentally booked my experience for the wrong day, I live about an hour away so once I noticed I called and they were able to accommodate the change for me. The sun was shining that day, everyone was so nice and welcoming. My sky diving instructor was awesome made me feel at ease during the experience. I would say that was my once and a lifetime experience but i’m glad I did it with Skydive Seneca Lake!”
