Skydive Seneca Lake Nov 2025 Newsletter

November Highlights: Season Two in Ovid Ends Strong

Our second year of operations at the Ovid Airport has officially wrapped up, and what a season it was.

ree

We welcomed over 2,500 jumpers to the skies above the Finger Lakes this year, with nearly 500 more skydives than last season. That kind of growth doesn’t happen without a strong community behind it, and we’re grateful for every person who made the trip, brought friends, shared photos, and kept the vibe high from opening day to the last load.

Thank you for helping make 2025 a standout year.

Stories from SSL

Athlete Spotlight: Steven Cannistra’s World Record Moment

Huge congratulations to Steven Cannistra.

Steve, one of our most loved fun jumpers, was recently part of a 104-skydiver canopy formation team that set a world record. Canopy formation (also called CRW) is a discipline that takes serious skill, awareness, and teamwork. Building anything big under canopy is a challenge. Doing it at world-record scale is another level.

We’re proud to have jumpers like Steve representing what the SSL crew is all about: commitment to the craft, a love for the sport, and the kind of grit that makes big things possible in the sky.

Season Wrap-Up

As temperatures cool and winter settles in, we’ll be staying grounded until March 1, 2026, when next season officially launches.

We already can’t wait to welcome you back. If this season was any indication, 2026 is going to be a good one.

A-License Story: Ron Judd

A big shoutout to Ron Judd, who faced down his fears this year, finished his A license, and came out the other side with a whole new level of confidence.

Watching students step into the sport for real is one of the best parts of what we do. Ron’s progress this season was a reminder that courage isn’t about feeling zero fear, it’s about showing up anyway. And now he’s bringing great energy to the skies over Seneca Lake.

Featured Photo / Review

We’ll be closing out the month with a featured Facebook photo and Google review from the community. If you posted something this season, keep an eye out, because we love showcasing the faces and moments that made this year what it was! Here's our favorite one from November!

Skydive of Seneca lake is the best!!! I accidentally booked my experience for the wrong day, I live about an hour away so once I noticed I called and they were able to accommodate the change for me. The sun was shining that day, everyone was so nice and welcoming. My sky diving instructor was awesome made me feel at ease during the experience. I would say that was my once and a lifetime experience but i’m glad I did it with Skydive Seneca Lake! - Antoinette K.

And if you haven’t left a review yet, toss one up when you get a minute. It helps keep the DZ growing and helps new jumpers feel confident booking their first skydive.

Thanks again for an awesome season, SSL family. Enjoy the holidays, hunt those Black FLYday deals, and we’ll see you back at altitude on May 1.
